During the Ruffing admissions process, children are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for success in a Montessori classroom. It is equally important to determine whether the parent’s educational philosophy aligns with that of Ruffing. Ruffing Montessori School welcomes all qualified individuals regardless of gender, race, color, creed, disability, national or ethnic origin.
The Admissions Steps are as Follows:
1. Inquire and Create an Admissions Portal
Start by submitting an inquiry form. Once the form is submitted, you will receive an email with a link to create an Admissions Portal.
2. Attend a Parent Classroom Observation and Tour
A Parent Observation and Tour can be scheduled in your Admissions Portal. We encourage both parents (or guardians) to visit the school for a chance to observe in a classroom and tour our school. We are confident you will walk away with an appreciation for the Montessori pedagogy and Ruffing’s thoughtful, expansive campus.
3. Application
After you observe and tour you will be able to complete the application checklist in your Admissions Portal and submit the $50 application fee.
4. Schedule a Child Assessment and Parent Interview
We begin scheduling child assessments and parent interviews in January. At this meeting, your child will work with a teacher, and you will meet with a separate teacher to exchange information about your child and about Ruffing. Your child will work with a teacher for 30 to 45 minutes.
5. Admissions Decisions
In most cases, admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. Acceptance of a child is based on many factors. Families will be notified by email.
